Amboy used to be a thriving desert town and popular watering hole along Route 66 in the ’50s. Now it’s a small, mostly abandoned rest-stop along an isolated stretch of road nobody travels anymore.

The town itself plays host today to at least four souls: Bob, an old man taking care of his withdrawn and invalid wife, Alaine.

Larry, who lives on the other side of 66 and is caretaker of the old motel and café, now largely fallen into disrepair.

And Larry’s faithful canine companion, Jackson.

This quiet, mostly wordless story depicts the life of two isolated men attempting to find meaning and place in the middle of nowhere.
